He doesn’t care about money because what he cares about is chaos.
What the DC writers are fascinated by creating first is the story, and the character takes care of itself.
Dan Brown said it, Create the Villain first because your Villain will define who your Hero is.
When the Joker reigns as the Clown Prince of Crime in the city of Gotham, Batman shows up, but he wants vengeance because of the death of his father, who was the root cause of the Joker’s crimes.
Again, “Chaos creates opportunity.”
Joker creates chaos and it’s an opportunity for Batman to show up.
