“Enshittification, also known as crapification and platform decay, is a pattern in which two-sided online products and services decline in quality over time”.
-Cory Doctorow, Enshittification
Where do shit go? Of course in the trash.
Where do valuable things go? Maybe in the museum, pawnshop, record store, bookstore, etc.
Then, as an Artist, why are you obsessed with why people on social media don’t recognize you?
If we only see it differently, then it’s helpful to us in the long run rather than just a bunch of likes you got on those platforms.
Marketing Mastermind Seth Godin said, “If you count your likes on those platforms, you make a big mistake.”
I think he said that because likes and following might give you credibility. Still, they are not helpful in the long run, because let’s say, you have a million followers, it doesn’t mean you also have a million long-lasting, loyal fans, and maybe many of those followers are just dummy accounts or not real people.
What we do as Artists, Writers, and Musicians is by creating things that are worth remarking about.
We are not making things that are forgotten because we meant to make things that last.
