”Laugh all you want, but I think learning to love yourself in a country where you’re told that you’re the plague on the economy, that you’re nothing but a prisoner in the making, that you life can be taken away from you at any moment and there’s nothing you can do about it – learning to love yourself in the middle of all that? Hell, that’s a goddamn miracle.”
-Jason Mott, Hell of a Book
If you can love yourself, then you have an advantage, because especially in this generation, there is no such thing as love anymore, but you have superficial things you can see.
You know what kind of love is essential nowadays, that thing is called loving yourself.
I didn’t mean that you are selfish.
But what about being selfish?
I use some analogies to understand you correctly.
Let’s say, there is a child who says, “I love fish.”
And then the old man says, “Do you kill it, and eat it after it’s cooked?”
”Yes, that’s why I love fish.”
”No, don’t say you love fish, you love yourself, and that’s why it kills, cooks, and you eat it.
The same is true for love.
You didn’t love someone because you actually love them but you love yourself for having love by them.
