“Like it or not, it’s the society we live in. Even the standard of right and wrong has been subdi-vided, made sophisticated. Within good, there’s fashionable good and unfashionable good, and ditto for bad. Within fashionable good, there’s formal and then there’s casual; there’s hip, there’s cool, there’s trendy, there’s snobbish. Mix ‘n’ match.”
-Haruki Murakami, Dance, Dance, Dance
Different people have different lifestyles and the culture and environment in which they live.
We can’t possibly say that this is a popular trend because different people have different wants.
The mistake is this: Do this because that is a popular trend.
The better counterintuitive approach is to do your thing regardless of what is popular or trends, because what matters is your original work.
Be original not a copy.
Being original is hard, copy is easy.
Hard work is a worthwhile thing to do until the end result is the quality.
