”Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional. Say you’re running and you think, ‘Man, this hurts, I can’t take it anymore. The ‘hurt’ part is an unavoidable reality, but whether or not you can stand anymore is up to the runner himself.”
-Haruki Murakami, What I Talk About When I Talk About Running
Murakami inspires me to run as well as to write fiction.
Running is a great meditation, especially for writers, because writers sit all day to write their masterpieces.
Writers mostly can’t move their bodies, and sometimes it’s unhealthy. If you only sit and can’t move, and when you run, not only do you want to sweat, but to sightsee the surroundings as well.
Every pain that you feel is unavoidable, which means that it’s natural to feel pain when something you act about takes your energy or drains it, and the result will be fatigue.
Suffering is optional only if you choose not to suffer, but that pain you feel will make you smart on how you use it as energy that transfers.
