”A healthy feeling of inferiority is not something that comes from comparing oneself to others; it comes from one’s comparison with one’s ideal self.”
-Ichiro Kishimi, The Courage to Be Disliked: The Japanese Phenomenon That Shows You How to Change Your Life and Achieve Real Happiness
Compared to others, that’s a mistake.
That’s a mistake because instead of improving yourself, it’s a competition with others.
It’s a competition because the goal of those people comparing themselves to others is to win.
There is no such thing as winning in this life.
Yes, there is a competition, but there is no such thing as the winners of life because there are only those left behind.
If you are left behind, it doesn’t mean you are a loser.
If you are ahead in this life doesn’t mean you are the winner.
Sometimes those losers are winners.
That’s why comparison is a sin.
The alternative is treating life like an infinite game because the goal of that game is the constant improvement of yourself.
How can you improve today than yesterday?
