“People who’ve been traumatized by a crime are victims, too. Finding ways to comfort them is also part of my job.”
-Keigo Higashino, Newcomer (Kyoichiro Kaga, #2)

Psychologically speaking, people who witness the crime are a part of the crime. But now because of advanced technology, even one person who witnesses the crime in a way that he or she takes a picture or video of the crime. It helps a lot to understand the crimes that in the past century haven’t done. Some people are traumatized by it, but some have different opinions about it. I think the job of the police is to solve not only the crime but also find ways to comfort those people who are traumatized by the crime. That’s what makes them great police. To feel safe for those people that they serve.

Writers are like the police. They investigate a crime scene when there is a crime and create an environment in which the reader is part of the crime scene to experience it in a way that he or she is one of the witnesses.
