“The best spies,” writes the first boy scout, “are unpaid men who are doing it for the love of the thing.”
- Henry Hemming, M: Maxwell Knight, MI5’s Greatest Spymaster
You look for the value of the thing when it is lost.
Being paid is important because it ensures the work is done and that the person receives a return for their efforts.
But you can’t buy honesty, loyalty, and trust because those kinds of things are intangibles.
Tangible things like money that you can hold onto are important enough because that thing is fuel.
You can’t go somewhere and drive a car when there is no fuel for it to go to the destination that you want.
The point is always simple, do the things that you love and do it for the rest of your life.
