“The past is here.”
-Henry Hemming, Four Shots in the Night: A True Story of Spies, Murder, and Justice in Northern Ireland
Jose Rizal quotes it, saying, “Those who don’t look for the past will never go to their destination.”
For me, the past is a lesson that you need not forget about but to make something count and learn from it.
Yes, it’s so hard to live in the present especially when the present is full of problems like calamities.
But I’m not talking about calamities, I’m talking about, what if the past might be for good even if the situation of those past mistakes is hard to accept when the fact of it is so rarely seen on the news or not to discuss properly, to conduct research or an investigation?
The Past is a compass to navigate a future and that future serves to make it better.
Yes, there are strong winds of criticism out there but when the roots of the past are strong and the information is reliable then maybe that’s a good way to live a good life.
