Small Rain

© Farrar, Straus and Giroux

“All happiness fades, or does for me; misery digs deep gouges in memory, sets the course of the self, I sometimes think, it lays down the tracks one is condemned to move along, whereas happiness leaves no trace. Remember this, I said to myself.”

-Garth Greenwell, Small Rain

‎I write many times and once more I write that…

‎Happiness comes and goes, fulfillment lasts.

‎It fades like a day when the night comes and you feel alone by yourself, even if there is someone who accompanies you.

‎And if you are uncomfortable being yourself, how can you stand alone and be strong on your feet?

‎The strongest people are the ones who don’t need someone to fill the emptiness in themselves, but instead, there is a purpose for being with that person, not just because you need to feel what you want to have a benefit from them.
