“…with a rush of feeling he felt that this must be happiness. As soon as the thought came to him, he fought it back, blaming the whiskey. The very idea was as dangerous as presumptive speech: happiness could not be sought or worried into being, or even fully grasped; it should be allowed its own slow pace so that it passes unnoticed, if it ever comes at all.”
-John McGahern, That They May Face the Rising Sun
The more you pursue happiness, the more it may not last at all.
I always say that Happiness comes and goes but fulfillment lasts.
It’s the things that are unnoticed that bring us joy more than noticing things all the time.
Especially the advancement of powerful technologies like social media gives you a boost of dopamine that is addictive, but it gives anxiety, and it is not good.
Peace is real happiness, and when that happiness is peace, people can’t take it away because it is unnoticed.
