“We live at the mercy of certain silences. We have all known things about each other for a long time. So we try to avoid each other. It would be for the best, of course, if none of us were ever to see each other again.”
-Patrick Modiano, In the Café of Lost Youth (New York Review Books Classics)
If “Everything happens for a reason,” there might be two results:
For best or worse.
It is best when things are positive, but time is not always positive; just like the weather, sometimes it rains, and sometimes there is sunshine.
It is worse when things are negative, but it doesn’t mean it’s not helpful to see things more clearly or understand the problem better, so you know what the better solution is.
The Alternative is always better.
The better to experience it all because maybe that’s life.
