“A friendship founded on business is better than a business founded on friendship.”
-Daniel Yergin, The Prize: The Epic Quest for Oil, Money, and Power
What I understand about it is that Business is a kind of relationship, like a family, that is passed down for future generations.
A Business founded on friendship is like there is something called debt or just an excuse to give something.
This is why some people exploit friendships to their own benefit, such as borrowing or, in extreme cases, stealing and corruption.
Maybe doing the work as best as you can might be good for any kind of business but the most virtue of all is honesty and trustworthiness regardless of the relationship.
