According to Dr. James Carse there are two types of games, finite games and infinite games.

In finite game the objective is to win the game and the infinite game is to continuing to play in the game.

But Simon Sinek use this idea and he see that everyday of our lives whether it is in the business, career or relationship is Infinite Games, in other words, there is no such thing as winner of business, career or marriage.

However most people what their goal is to become number 1 in business whatever their industry is, they want to get promoted quickly, and to get the girl that they want to marry quickly.

So as he points out, Most people play in the Infinite Game with a Finite Mindset.

This is why we don’t surprise because the cost of playing in the Infinite Game with Finite Mindset is Scarcity, like Cooperation is low, Trust is low, Loyalty is not in demand, Innovation is not working.

This is Gets me thinking also…

Do we Writers play in the game that we are actually in?

Because our careers are Infinite.

We write, do the work, publish and sell. and planning a new writing in the future.

But If we play in our Infinite game that the mindset is finite, it means you want to become a #1 new york times bestselling author, get a big publisher as quickly as you can or earn more money on your writing.

That’s not what we do as Writers.

What we do as Writers is that, we write, do the work, ship and repeat because our Mindset is Infinite.

And those who have Infinite Mindset, they don’t know if their work is gonna be successful but they keep working and that is worth it.
